RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds are an easy and efficient way to receive notification when new information is available in a specific area of interest. RSS feeds for constantly-changing content save time, allowing you to receive notification only when new content is available. You may choose the information you wish to subscribe to and can unsubscribe from any feed at any point.
EMedHome offers a number of podcasts and constantly-changing content accessible to subscribers through RSS Feeds. The following podcasts and content are offered at this time:
You must be an EMedHome.com subscriber to access subscription content.
To subscribe to an RSS feed, you will need an RSS Reader or a recent browser, such as Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox Point your RSS-capable Web browser to the page that lists the content you are interested in. You will see the orange RSS button in your browser turn on. Click it and follow your browser's instruction to subscribe to the feed. Your feeds will update automatically.
To subscribe using an RSS Reader (also called a news aggregator - see list of News Aggregators), simply click the icon or a link to the RSS feed and paste it into your RSS reader. Some readers will auto detect the presence of an RSS feed on a website and you can optionally choose to subscribe.
While you can subscribe to many podcast feeds using iTunes, our security structure does not allow for access to podcast feeds directly from iTunes Podcast manager. You are welcome to download available podcasts and media files to your computer and import them into iTunes for offline playback (see the Access a Podcast or Media File Offline later in this page) but links to podcasts using iTunes' Podcast subscriptions will not work.
To access a podcast or other subscription content through your browser, login to EMedHome.com and follow the navigation links to the content you would like to see. Some content, such as Featured Articles, Clinical Cases, and Clinical Pearls, may be viewed as web pages directly in your browser. Some content, such as Online EM Lectures or Podcasts, may be played through your browser if you have the necessary plugins (an MP3 PLayer to play MP3 Audio Files, Flash 8 or higher for Flash files, or a Media Player such as iTunes or Windows Media Player for other media files).
Content which may be played online is generally listed in the "Play" column. Simply click the Play button next to the content you wish to hear and it will stream through your browser, or through the program designated by your browser plugin.
View a demo of subscribing via your Web browser.
In order to access media files (audio or video files) while not connected to the Internet, you must download them first to your computer. Not all content that is available online may be downloaded for local play. When content is available to download for offline playing, you will see a "Download" column or a section with links listing the content that is available and the formats the content is available in.
Windows users simply right-click the icon or link for the type of download you are seeking, and save the file to your computer. To play the file, follow the instructions for media player.
Mac users will need to right-click, Option-Click, or hold-click the icon or link, depending on the type of mouse and browser you are using.
Advanced users who wish to manually create RSS subscriptions can use the links in the following table. You will also find links to more information on each activity in the table below.
